2. Appontment

Appointment is a kind of expression which is used to conduct appoint. Here, are 4 kind of appointment Expression.

1. Making an Appointment
- Will you go out with me tonight ?
- What if we go swimming this afternoon ?
- Let's do something to help the flood victimes.

2. Accepting an Appointment
- No problem. I'm free on sunday
- It's a deal
- I'll be there
- I'll wait for you there
- All right . See you there
- Ok . I'll be there on time

3. Declining an Appointment
- Sorry, I can't
- I'd love to. but I can't
- I really want , but I can't
- I'm sorry, I have another appointment

4. Changing an Appointment
- How about tomorrow ?
- I can't see you at 09.00 am , can I meet you at 01.00 pm ?
- Would you mind if we change the day ( time) of the meeting ?

3. Happiness Expression

Happiness expression is an expression that is used to show that someone or people are glad have excited feelings.

Expressing Happiness
- I'm really happy
- I'm happy to hear that
- I'm very pleased with the news
- It gives me great pleasure
- Great ! Fantastic !
- Terrific !

Example :
MC : Congratulation, Ma'am ! You are the first winner and you deserve fifty million rupiah.
Ma'am : Am I ? Thank you very much .
MC : How do you feel Ma'am ?
Ma'am : It really gives me great pleasure ! I'm so happy !

4. Gaining Attention

Gaining Attention is a way or expression that is spoken so that other people will pay their attention to what we want to.

Usually gaining attention use in order our friends that speak with we, attention to us. Gaining attention usually use simple present tense.

Example :
- Attention please !
- Exuce me
- May I have your attention , please ?
- Look here .
- Listen to me , please
- Waiter ?

Respon :
- Wow, really ?
- I'm listening
- It's amazing !
- What happened then ?

5. Sympathy Expression

- Sympathy Expression is an expression or feeling of pity and sorrow when we know and see someone or people are unlucky or have trouble and in bad condition.

We expressing Sympathy directly to him/her orally we can use a letter or card by post also by short message servise (SMS) , e-mail, television,radio and newspaper if he/she who got the trouble is far for use.

* Showing Sympathy

I'm sorry for what's happened.
Look ! This is not the end of the world.
(Oh dear) I am sorry (to hear that)
That's a pity / shame.
You have my sympathy.

* Example :
Adit : Hi, Adit , will you join us to the party ?
Lisa : I'd love to, but my mother doesn't let me go.
Adit : That's a pity. But it's OK. You can join us another time.

6. Gaining Attention

Giving Instruction is an expression that used to give instation for someone to do or not do something giving instruction can be devided as follows.

Example :

Come here !
Wash this badroom, please.
Please clean your classroom.
I would you mind bring these boxes.

7. Announcement

- Announcement is something said, written, or printed to make know that has happened or (more often) what will happen.

- In writting an announcement, keep the following pants the title/type or event, date/time, and contact person.

- We can fine the announcement in television, radio, newspaper, wall magazine in school, etc .

- Characteristic of announcement :
* Use simple present tense or simple future tense often enticement.

Example :

8. Recount Text

Recount text is a text is used to retell events for the purpose of informing or entertaining.

The Generic Structure :

Orientation : Set the scane it provides the background information needed to understand the text such as what it happened.
Events : The frequency incidents. At various stages there may be some personal comment on the incident . We call it Re-orientation.
Re- Orientation : It's used to retell past event's for the conduction, purpose of informing or entertaining of the story .

9. Narrative Text

Narrative Text is the text that tell story from of FairyTtale, Legend, Fable, Science Fiction , and Mystery .

Fairy Tale : Snow White , Cinderella , etc.
Legend : Lake Toba , Malin Kundang ,etc .
Fable : Crocodile and mouse deer , Frog King , etc .
Science Fiction : Alien
Mystery : House of the death, etc .

The Generic Structure of Narrative text is :
+ Orientation

The setting of the story
The starting point of a narrative story to make readers understand what the story's talking about.

ex . - Once upon a time
- A long time ago
- Early one morning

+ Complication
- The problem raises in the story
ex. : One day, she bought a .....

+ Resolution
- The think happens after the problem raised.
Ex. : Cinderella could go if ....

10 . Procedure Text

Procedure text is a kind of the text that tell how to make or to do something .

- The Generic Sructure

Title/Goal : It states the goal to be achieved.
List of materials : It list the materia,s needed . It often gives detail on the size, color, numbers, shapes , quantity, etc .
List of equipment : It lists the equipments needed. It also often gives detail on the size, color , numbers, shapes, quantity, etc .
Step/Method/Procedure : Itdescribes steps in logical order to achive the goal .

Let us look at the example below.

Title/Goal :
Mix It Up Salad

List of materials :
1/3 cup of orange juice
1 tablespoon of honey
1 1/2 cups honeydew melon - cut into cubes
1 pint of strawberries - cut in half
2 cups of grapes
1 green apple - cut into cubes
2 oranges - cut in bite-size pieces

List of equipments :
Measuring cups and spoons
A large bowl
A whisk or a fork

Steps/methods/procedure :

First, make the dressing by putting the orange juice and honey in a large bowl and mix them well.
Then, add the fruit.
Next, mix until all the fruit is highly coated with the dressing.
Put it in the refrigerator for one hour.
Finally, serve it cold .

11. Past Tense

- Past Tense digunakan untuk menyatakan kejadian atau perbuatan di waktu lampau atau yang sudah berlalu.

Simple Past Tense

S + tobe (was/were) or S + V2 + O/C
ex. I bought this pen yesterday.

Past Continuous

S + tobe (was/were) + verb + ing
Ex. : Her health was getting better.

Past Perfect

S + had + been
Ex. : French had been traught by John.

Past Perfect Continuous

S+ had + been + V + ing
Ex. : She had been crying when I got home .

12. Present Tense

- Simple Present Tense digunakan untuk menyatakan kejadian atau peristiwa yang terjadi berulang-ulang atau merupakan kebiasaan yang sampai sekarang masih dilakukan.

- Present Continuous Tense digunakan untuk menyatakan kejadian atu peristiwa yang sedang berlangsung pada saat sekarang.

- Present Perfect Tense digunakan untuk menyatakan perbuatan yang baru saja dilakukan , tetapi waktunya tidak ditentukan .

- Present Perfect Continuous Tense digunakan untuk menyatakan kejadin yang dimulai pada waktu yang lampau dan masih berlangsung sampai saat sekarang atau baru saja selesai .

14. Writing : Autobiography

When writing an autobiography, you focus on three major things :

who you in your life
what life means to you
, and
what your outlook on the future is.

Autobiographies have been written since A.D. 400 when an early Christian leader, Saint Augustine, wrote his. An autobiography is information about one's own life written by that one person. In it, it tells what that person's life is all about. When writing your own autobiography, use interesting facts to explain as much about yourself as you can.

15. Reading : analyze characters

Analyze Characters
- We could also analyze character by realizing the different fraits the person as personality wise, like if the character is soft spoken, wise, mean to certain people , prajudire.

1. Plot
Story has a certain arrangement of events which are taken to have a relation to one another. This arrangement of events to some end - for instance to create significance, raise the level of generality, extend or complicate the meaning - is known as plot .

2. Character
Character in a work of story are generally designed to open up or explore certain aspects of human experience. Characters often depict particular traits of human nature. They may represent only one or two traits - a greedy old man who has forgotten how to care about others, for instance, or they may represent very complex conflicts, values and emotions .

3. Setting
Stories requires a setting , this as in poetry may vvary from the concrete to the general often setting will have particular culturally coded significance - a sea-shore has a significance for us different from that of a dirty street corner , for instance, and different situations and significances can be constructed through its use.

4. Theme
Theme is also important too, theme is especial idea which is used as base in writing down story mostly letter than implicit.

5. Point of view
Point of view interpreted as a position of author to events in story. There is point of view of first person singular and there is third person singular point of view.

6. Language style
Language style is the way to typically in laying open feeling or mind through language in the form oral or article.

7. Message
Message is the message the author through the story .

17. Perfect Tense

Past Perfect Tense digunakan untuk menyatakan dua perbuatan/kejadian di waktu lampau, dimana kejadian pertama dalam bentuk past perfect tense, sedangkan kejadian berikutnya dalam bentuk past tense.

Formula :
S + had + been + bukan kata kerja

Example :
He run away after he had stolen the car.

Keterangan waktu yang sering digunakan dalam bentuk PTT adalah :
- before : sebelum
- just : baru saja
- already : selalu
- after : setwlah
- until : hingga

18. Listening : Make me a copy, please

Description :
Often time student are not able to communicating clearly what they would like to say. It is purpose of this lesson to help student understand to need to be articulate and precise when explain steps to another student. In addition the student listening will learn to be a more affective listener.

GOAL : Students will understand to need to be articulate when communicating.

Objective :

The students will use descriptive eplications to guide another student in completing the task .
The student will explain the importance of being articulate and the frustation when directions are unclear.

Background Information :

This activity will teach student to explain what they see and guide another student in reproducing the drawing by what they are told.

CONCEOT : Student will able to :

Explain and articulate the steps to reproducing a drawing.
Follow directions as closely as possible.
Communicate with follow students to accomplish the given task .

19. Speaking : Speech

Speech is the vocalization form of human communication.

Direct Speech is a sentences type from the speaker or someone ideas don't experience change.

Example :

Lisa said, " Im happy. "
" We will help you ." Andre and Donny said .

Indirect Speech is a sentences someone to do try in other type from the speaker with used different type (the exact word of the speaker), but same mind the original sentences.

Example :

Lina says that the concert will begin soon .

20. Advertisement

Advertisement is a form of communication used to help sell products and service.
Advertisement have two meaning :
1. Is a commercial solication designed to sell come community, service or similar . Companies try to show their product using advertisement in placards, television, sports and print publication.

2. Is a Public Notice. The city council placed an advertisement in the local newspaper in informs it residents of the forth coming read works.

The function of advertisement is :
- Promotion
- Communication
- Information

In making an Advertisement, keep the following points :
